A garden's chronicles

Welcome,
At the times of social networks, starting a blog might be considered old-fashioned in a way but this is pretty convenient to share in a same place all my obsessions and creations.
"Strange fruits" is mainly focused on carnivorous plants as it is my main center of interest at the moment. You will thus find infos on the plants I grow, my cultivation techniques, my travels, updates on my research and publications as a taxonomist, reports on CP meetings, CP books reviews and much more. You will also find a lot of stuff linked to literature, music, entomology and drawing. I do hope you will find here a couple of interesting things.
Remember that this is a blog. Therefore, you are all welcome to share thoughts and comments.

Utricularia delphinioides in southern Cambodia

A friend of mine, Dr. Oleg Kosterin has very kindly accepted to share with the carnivorous plant community some pictures of this fantastic species of Utricularia. Pictures of Utricularia delphinioides are not common in the literature and in the web, so I am very thankful to Oleg to willingly share these great pictures with us.
I hope you'll like them!

I am going to search after this species on my next trip in Indochina. I'm not sure the plants will be in flower by the time I go there but if they do, be sure to see many new pictures and a nice report as well!

  1. Incredible color of those flowers. In Argentina we are starting to grow them, but we have few species yet.
    Greetings.
    Great blog.

  2. The species name is very precise, I'd say.

  3. Hi dionea,

Yes, this is a very beautiful species. I only knew it from a handful of pictures and some dried herbarium material, so I'm really happy that Oleg shared these pictures with us.
Which species do you grow in Argentina?

    All the best,

    François.
